We love Mexican dishes in our house, in fact we add them to the menu at least once per week. Our family enjoys the flavor of Mexican food and we enjoy that it’s budget friendly as well.
We will be sharing homemade seasonings and mixes with you, that are easy to make and great to keep in your pantry. You can find them under the Homemade Pantry tab at the bottom of the header.
Some of my favorite cookbooks are those from the 1960′s and 70′s. I guess I’m just nostalgic like that. Recently my sister, Peggy, who lives in California, was visiting and she brought me a couple cookbooks with Homemade Mixes; Make-A-Mix Cookery. I love reading through older cookbooks that other people have used and I especially value the ones’ that have personal notes alongside the recipes. I could tell that this was a book that Peggy found useful and this Taco Seasoning Mix Recipe had a hand written note…Excellent! Still using in ’96 & ’06. That’s all the convincing it took to make my decision to share this with you.
There are several advantages to making your own seasoning blends, of course it is very frugal and if you need more to finish a recipe you won’t need to make a special trip to the store. But in our family the greatest benefit is we can tweak the recipe to change the flavor to our liking or simply add more or less depending on how adventurous we are feeling.
There are dozens of additional seasonings to share with you but we’ll leave that for another time. Enjoy this Taco Seasoning Mix and add some spice to your next Mexican meal.
