Beef Bacon is bacon… made out of dry beef. It’s made from the navel (beef belly) and then seasoned and baked in the oven for the ultimate flavor! So, if you thought regular bacon was delicious and you’re also a beef flavor fan, wait until you taste this crispy beef bacon. You won’t come back to pork bacon!

TIPS & TRICKS

  • If you don’t feel like using your oven for this recipe, you can always just fry the bacon slices until crisp in a very hot pan. Also, others cook it using the microwave… however, I don’t recommend this method.
  • Bacon in its most common form is cured and smoked pork belly. The fat-rippled beef belly produces a tastier and crisper finished product than any other pork body part. When it comes to beef bacon, the same animal part is used.
  • Pork bacon keeps for literally months in the refrigerator, while beef bacon, on the other hand, isn’t made for that long storage. It’ll last about several weeks to a month in the refrigerator or 6 to 8 months in the freezer. The difference between the two is the kind of fat. While the pork fat can be stored for mounts and still be good, the beef fat tends to go rancid when it comes to long storage.
  • You can use beef bacon just about anywhere you’d use pork bacon. It has both the flavor of bacon and a bit of beefiness, as well.
  • Unlike pork bacon, which does well in thick slices, beef bacon slices should be really thin. That’s because the beef fat is a bit different and it doesn’t melt/render as easily.

Beef Bacon Ingredient List

The ingredients for beef bacon can vary based on your tastes, much like the ingredients for regular bacon. To make bacon of any kind you must have regular salt and sugar. Even though the sugar can be skipped, the final flavor will suffer. So, I suggest trying to use at least salt and sugar (of any kind) when it comes to seasoning your bacon.

Beyond those basic three ingredients, you can add whatever spices suit your tastes. Black pepper, paprika, or hot chili pepper flakes would go just great!

Here are the exact ingredients for the basic beef bacon recipe:

  • 10 beef bacon slices;
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt;
  • 1/4 teaspoon brown sugar.

Easy Step-by-Step Beef Bacon Recipe

When it comes to baking it, the easiest advice I can give you is: to cook beef bacon just like you would cook pork bacon. I suggest baking it in a 350°F oven for 5 to 15 minutes. Another essential tip is to keep in mind that once you can smell bacon, stand by the oven because it is almost done.

All in all, here are the steps for this easy recipe:

  1. Cut thin slices of beef bacon (if you don’t have already sliced bacon). Keep in mind that beef bacon, unlike pork bacon, doesn’t do well in thick slices.
