Asian Meatballs: Food on a Stick

We have a fun week planned for you!! Food on a Stick! Every day we will share a fun recipe and some ideas for creating Food on a Stick. Inspired by Matt Armendariz and his new book, On A Stick, we thought it would be fun to create some fun food to inspire you also.

Kicking off our Food on a Stick Week are these Asian Meatballs. We have been talking for a little while about sharing Meatballs on a Stick, so when we saw the Chinese Meatballs in the On A Stick Book, we knew right away we wanted to give them a try.

We changed the sauce to make it a little more budget friendly, the sauce that is on the Chinese Meatballs called for Lemongrass, and it was $3 for a little package at Walmart. So we opted to change it up and made a batch of our favorite Shanghai Wing Sauce.

Matt, the author of this super fun book, also writes the very popular blog, Matt Bites. He tells you more about his new book, including some of the fun food!

I first learned about this cool book from fellow foodie, Barbara, another amazing chef and baker!

A few years back, we first discovered Shanghai Wings at Chili’s Restaurant, so we decided to find a recipe and give it a try and it has become one of our family’s favorite meals. I like it because there is just enough kick to the sauce and I’m not too fond of spicy meals so this is right up my alley. Unfortunately the Chili’s Restaurants don’t have these on their menu anymore but I’m glad we can fix these anytime we like.

We opted to take the easy way out and buy a bag of meatballs this time, but making your own is super easy too. But that’s a topic to cover another time.
