Labor Day is right around the corner! Do you host a cook out or maybe a potluck? We had such a fun time sharing the Hot Dog Bar for your 4th of July celebration, we decided to share several more hot dogs to add to your Hot Dog Bar.

Offering toppings for guests to create their own special hot dog not only makes food preparation easier for you, it’s also an inexpensive way to serve many guests.

Today we are sharing four delicious hot dogs – Pizza Dog, Mexican Dog, Garden Dog and the BLT Dog.

Starting with a good sized hot dog is important, and we found a bratwurst bun from the bakery will do the trick to hold all the extra ingredients.

Let’s start with my favorite – the Mexican Dog. Although there are only 3 ingredients, they pack a punch of flavor. Start with a good salsa, you can make your own or purchase some at the store. If you are buying salsa, we like the Marketside brand at Walmart or Sam’s Club salsa in their refrigerator section.

Then a mixture of sour cream and taco seasoning makes the Creamy Taco Sauce, and a sprinkle of French Fried Onions for a little crunch. You could also use crushed tortilla chips.

Everyone loves pizza, so why not add the toppings to your hot dog. Start with our 5 minute Quick Pizza Sauce, cut Pepperoni in half and add Mozzarella Cheese to the top.

Since vegetables are in full swing in many gardens and available at the Farmer’s Market, we created a Garden Dog. Topped with a Pickled Corn Relish and a little Cole Slaw Mix for added crunch.

And last but not least, the BLT Dog. We couldn’t create the new Hot Dogs and forget about bacon now could we? Just like the classic sandwich, this hot dog is topped with bacon, lettuce and tomato.
