Do you treat your Dad to a special Father’s Day Dinner? Yes, I agree…Steak Dinner is not your typical pocket friendly meal, but for a special occasion like Father’s Day, I love to treat Doug.
Walmart has a new line of Steak, USDA Choice Premium Beef, and Doug has been wanting to try them ever since spotting them in our local store. Last week, I visited Arkansas and Walmart headquarters, and the Walmart Moms were treated to a special Steak Dinner. Now, I’m not a steak eater {I know…crazy huh?} but all the other Moms were raving over how great the steak tasted, so I knew Doug would love it.
So we fired up the grill and cooked up a special dinner for Doug complete with fresh asparagus, baked potato {cooked in the microwave}, grilled bread, Beer and Cheese Father’s Day Cupcake and a glass of iced tea.
Just like Scott Neal, Walmart VP of Meat taught us…we only added a little salt and pepper to the steak before grilling. You don’t need to add a lot of seasoning, these steaks taste great without it.
One thing I learned from the Produce Executive on the trip to Walmart, was that the packaged produce may cost a little more, but it will last much longer. The asparagus is from Marketside and we found the bread in the bakery.
After getting the food started on the grill, I headed inside to saute’ the mushrooms and onions in butter and garlic to add to the top of the steaks.
Doug and the boys all loved the steak! And yes…Doug is cutting it with a butter knife, he could hardly wait until we were finished to tear into them.
Disclosure: This post is part of a campaign I am participating in with the Walmart Moms. Walmart has provided me with compensation and product for this post. My participation is voluntary and opinions, as always are my own.

That steak does look good! I’m curious, though – why does packaged produce last longer?
Hi Taterbug,
Packaged produce last longer because the packaging helps to keep the ripening gases that other produce produces while on the shelf.
