Welcome to another Farmer’s Market Friday! I hope you’ve been able to find some recipes to help you savor all the bounty of the season – and maybe even to ‘put up’ a few things for the winter. Today’s produce star is peppers – sweet red, orange, and yellow peppers, banana peppers, jalapenos, anaheims, or any other pepper you like. No matter what pepper you choose, you can bet there will be a fabulous way to use it in your cooking.
It seems there are so many more flavors and types of peppers available now – from traditional green bells to the hottest habaneros – that almost any recipe could benefit from the addition of them, even if just a small amount of diced jalapenos for added spice.
Of course the best way to enjoy peppers at the peak of their season is fresh on salads, sandwiches, vegetable plates, and in salsa. But there are many other ways to use peppers to bring color and flavor to your dishes, and I’ve chosen some of the best we’ve created here on PCG as well as some fun recipes I found on other sites for you to get the most out of the season.
