Love is in the air! Valentine’s Day is almost here. Do you cook for your family, kiddos or sweetheart? Do you usually cook a fun dinner for the family or a romantic dinner at home after the kids are in bed? Have you thought about starting off the day with a beautiful and delicious Valentine’s Day Breakfast?

Who wouldn’t L-O-V-E to start their day off with this breakfast? I know what you are thinking…that’s a lot of work to get ready in the morning. It’s really super easy and doesn’t take any longer than a regular breakfast…well unless you only have cereal, of course.

Let’s start with the main recipe…

Heart Shaped Pancakes

  • We used our Homemade Old Fashioned Pancake Recipe
  • Divide batter in half and add red food coloring to half – remember if you are using red gel paste like Wilton’s, be sure to use No-Taste Red, regular red coloring can be bitter
  • Cook round pancakes like you normally would
  • Using a heart shaped cookie cutter, cut the center out of the pancakes and place a red pancake heart in the middle

Heart Shaped Cinnamon Rolls

  • Use a tube of store bought cinnamon rolls
  • Unroll until you have a long strip of dough
  • Fold in half and pinch the fold together
  • Separately roll the ends toward the center to form the heart shape
  • Bake according to the directions on the package
  • Tint the glaze with pink coloring and drizzle over cinnamon rolls

In our family, breakfast isn’t complete without potatoes. The Heart Shaped Roasted Potatoes recipe is below.

The Fresh Fruit is a simple mixture of raspberries, black raspberries and strawberries tossed with a little sugar.

And to drink…Strawberry Milk…milk mixed with strawberry syrup. For the glass, I used a small mason jar and added a white paper doily, pink heart shaped doily and a pink heart, then wrapped it with red twine. The straw has a fun little Valentine printable available on Hoosier Homemade. Top it off with a spoonful of whipped topping, a few sprinkles and a strawberry.

Now let’s pull it all together and serve our Valentine’s Day Breakfast. The mailbox is from the dollar section at Target, I glued a strip of scrapbook paper around the top to add color and an initial for the person eating breakfast, then filled it with love notes. Paper doilies add romance for very little money and the paper hearts can either be store bought or hand made.
