Homemade Biscuit Mix

  • 4 1/4 cups flour, all purpose
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 cup instant nonfat milk powder
  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons shortening

Red Lobster Cheese Biscuits

  • 2 cups Homemade Biscuit Mix {or Bisquick}
  • 1/2 cup grated cheese, cheddar
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

Homemade Biscuit Mix

  1. Combine all dry ingredients in a large bowl, whisk together
  2. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender or your fingers until mix crumbles
  3. Store in an air-tight container in a dry cool place.
  4. Use within 10-12 wks. Be sure to date it.

Red Lobster Cheese Biscuits

  1. Combine biscuit mix, cheese and milk
  2. Stir until well combined, about 30 seconds
  3. Drop by teaspoon full onto greased cookie sheet
  4. Bake at 450 degrees for about 8-10 minutes or until golden
  5. Melt butter and stir in garlic powder
  6. Brush on warm biscuits
