Ingredients

Waffles
- 1 3/4 cups flour, all-purpose
- 2 tablespoons white sugar
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs, separated
- 2 cups buttermilk or 1 cup milk + 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup oil, canola or vegetable
Apples
- 2–4 apples, your favorite variety {depending on how many you are serving}
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- Pinch of allspice
- Drizzle of maple syrup
- Whipped Topping and cinnamon for garnish
Instructions
Apples
- Add butter to a small saute pan and melt
- Peel apples, slice thinly and add to pan
- Sprinkle with cinnamon and allspice
- Stir and cook about 5 minutes until apples begin to soften
- Drizzle with syrup and continue to cook until soft
Waffles
- In a large bowl, combine dry ingredients
- Separate eggs, whites into a small bowl and yolks into the dry ingredients
- Add buttermilk and oil to dry ingredients
- With an electric mixer, beat the egg whites until foamy and white, fold into waffle mixture
- Heat waffle maker, spray with non-stick cooking spray if necessary
- Add about 1/2 cup waffle batter for each waffle
- Serve warm with apples, whipped topping and a sprinkle of cinnamon
