The weather this week has been a bit chilly, but that didn’t stop us from firing up the grill and throwing on one of our favorite Spring Vegetables…Asparagus!

I remember my Dad {an amazing gardener} had an Asparagus bed, when I was growing up. If I remember correctly, it didn’t take much work once the plants were up and growing, and the crop that he harvested from the small bed he had was wonderful. Doug has been working most of the last couple days on a raised garden bed. Hopefully by Fall we can add another bed and plant some Asparagus.

Asparagus is really easy to grill and can be made as simple as adding just a little salt and pepper. This time though, we decided to change it up a bit and give our new Grilling Spice Blend a try, a squeeze of lemon and a splash of Holland House White Wine Vinegar.

Flavored vinegars are a great way to give vegetables added zing with little to no calories.

A delicious way to enjoy Asparagus. Recipe from




  1. Heat grill to medium high heat
  2. Cut ends off asparagus, wash and sprinkle with Grilling Spice Blend
  3. and place on grill
  4. Grill about 3-4 minutes then turn
  5. Remove from grill and add lemon juice and Holland House White Wine Vinegar
  • Prep Time: 5 minutes
  • Cook Time: 8 minutes

Here are a few great tips for using White Wine Vinegar from Mizkan…

  • Combine white wine vinegar with sugar and minced fresh ginger for an Asian-inspired vinaigrette
  • Mix grated lemon or orange peel into white wine vinegar for a fresh citrus flavor
  • When poaching eggs, add a teaspoon of white wine vinegar to the water to keep the white intact

  1. We’ve been having a lot of grilled asparagus lately, love it with olive oil and salt. I hope you have success asparagus bed, it has a lovely feathery leaf so it’s nice to look at, too.
