Living in the midwest, there are often times misconceptions. Like – we only eat steak and potatoes, we have no idea what gourmet cooking is and the only cooking oil we ever use is vegetable oil. I’ll have to admit that until a few years ago one of those statements was all too true. I had tried olive oil in a dip served at an Italian restaurant during one of my travels home, I enjoyed the flavor so I decided to do a little experimenting with olive oil myself, a little at a time.

Fast forward to today and you’ll see that there is always a bottle of olive oil in the pantry and it gets used in almost every recipe that calls for oil. This summer one of my goals has been to find new sauces and dressings that add loads of flavor along with the fresh herbs and spices we grow in our garden. There’s a few aioli blends that have some promise and of course vinaigrettes for salads and vegetables are one of my favorites.

This Mexican Cilantro Lime Vinaigrette from Olivari Mediterranean Olive Oil is next on my list to try. I recently received samples of their product, and have enjoyed trying them.
