Serves: Serves 4
Ingredients
  • 1 pound fresh green beans
Buttermilk Mixture
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
Breading Mixture
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
Instructions
  1. In a large bowl combine the ingredients for the buttermilk mixture
  2. Prepare your green beans, snap the ends off and rinse in cold water
  3. Pat dry on paper towels
  4. Toss green beans in the buttermilk mixture and set aside for 15 to 20 minutes
  5. In another large bowl combine the ingredients for breading mixture
  6. Heat 2 to 3 inches of cooking oil in a deep pan to 375 F
  7. Transfer the green beans to the breading mixture and coat well
  8. Re-dip in buttermilk and breading mixture
  9. Once oil is at temperature cook for 2-3 minutes until golden brown
