Cranberry Relish Recipe

A perfect side dish for Thanksgiving. Recipe from
  • 6 cups fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup cranberry juice
  • 1½ cups sugar or ¾ cup Truvia┬« natural sweetener
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 tablespoon orange peel, finely grated
  1. Wash and drain cranberries
  2. In a large saucepan, combine juice, sugar, salt and cinnamon stick
  3. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring to dissolve the sugar
  4. Cook for 1 minute
  5. Add the cranberries, bring to a boil, reduce heat
  6. Boil gently over medium-high heat for 3-5 minutes or until skins pop, stirring occasionally
  7. Stir in orange peel
  8. Cool completely, remove cinnamon stick
  9. If desired, slightly mash the cranberries
  10. Serve with crackers, cream cheese, as a side dish, or give as a gift
