Homemade Strawberry Fruit Topping

  • 2 cups strawberries, cleaned and hulled
  • 8-10 tablespoons sugar, depending on the sweetness of the berry
  • 6 tablespoons strawberry jam (we used Simply Fruit)
  • 4 teaspoons lemon juice
  1. Clean and hull berries, cut into quarters
  2. Place in saucepan on the stove and sprinkle with sugar
  3. Let set 15 minutes
  4. Stir and add Jam
  5. Coarsely mash berries and bring to a soft boil
  6. Cook, stirring occasionally about 20 minutes or until thick
  7. Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice
  8. Transfer to bowl and place in fridge for 2-24 hours
  9. Transfer to air tight container and store in fridge or freezer
