Description

Dinner on the table in under 30 minutes with this Asian Pork Lettuce Cups. Recipe from PocketChangeGourmet.com. Adapted from White on Rice Couple


Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil
  • 3/4 cup onion, diced thin
  • 2 tablespoons garlic, crushed {6 cloves}
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce {or Fish Sauce}
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Chili Sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 4 green onions, sliced thin
  • 1/2 pound cooked noodles {we used Ramen, you can also try rice, egg or soba}
  • 1 head Butterleaf Lettuce, washed and separated {we found a container at Kroger}
  • 5-6 stems fresh basil


Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat
  2. Add the oil and onions, cook until soft about 1-2 minutes, stirring occasionally
  3. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds
  4. Add pork and brown until all pink is gone
  5. Add soy sauce {or fish sauce}, tomato paste, sugar, chili sauce and water to cooked meat
  6. Add green onions, and cook for 30 seconds
  7. Toss in cooked noodles and stir to combine
  8. Serve in lettuce cups, garnish with fresh basil
