Wine Bottle Decoration: Gifts from the Kitchen

We have had fun creating frugal gift giving ideas for you. If you are anything like me…I love the thrift stores, especially Goodwill. When I was recently shopping for some winter sweaters to make into stockings, I thought the sleeves would make a perfect Wine Bottle Cover.

This Wine Bottle Decoration is quick, easy and very inexpensive.

Let’s gather our supplies:

  • Bottle of wine or even sparkling juice
  • Sweater – one with a ribbing and cuff on the sleeve is best
  • Twine or other ribbon
  • Monogram – this one came from Hobby Lobby, is Chip Board and was $.50 cents
  • Scrapbook paper – again from Hobby Lobby, depending on the size of the monogram, you can get several out of 1 sheet of paper
  • Glue, Scissors and Pencil

  1. Measure the bottle and cut the sleeve off the sweater so that part of the bottle is showing
  2. Cut the sleeve
  3. Weave the twine through the holes in the sweater

  1. Trace the monogram on the back of the paper
  2. Cut out the monogram
  3. Spread glue on the monogram – any glue should work, I just happen to grab this Elmer’s glue stick
  4. Place paper on monogram

Tie the monogram onto the bottle

Don’t you just love it? The ideas are endless…you could add some small ornaments, an embellishment like the skates we used on the Peppermint Bark Container, maybe a small kitchen utensil, Christmas ornament or even a wine bottle opener!

How fun!!

And to catch you up on the Gifts from the Kitchen series…

  1. Homemade Cheeseball given in an vintage colander
  2. Take-out boxes filled with Homemade Party Mix
  3. Cranberry Relish
  4. Peppermint Bark in a recycled container

Are you making any Homemade Gifts this year?

  6. so cute! Love the sweater idea. Does the yarn unravel at all? Do you have to do anything to keep it intact? Super DIY!

    • Thanks Denise! No the sweater did not unravel and I didn’t have anything holding it. I only cut one edge and it was fine. Thanks for stopping by!
