The big game is just about here…The Super Bowl or as some are calling it…the Harbowl! This year the 49ers and Ravens will go head to head on the field. But more importantly…what will you be serving? We put together a table full of Super Bowl Snackin’ including Cowboy Chili.
What’s better than the Super Bowl? Maybe the commercials during the Super Bowl…but in my opinion….the food! Last week we shared 50 Super Bowl Recipes for you to serve up, today we have a super easy Touchdown Mix, Snacks and Cowboy Chili served on a really fun Football Tablecloth with plates and napkins from Walmart.

Touchdown Snack Mix Recipe
- Popcorn Indiana Movie Theatre Popcorn – this comes already popped
- M&M’s Snack Mix Milk Chocolate – we found this in the candy aisle
- Chex Mix Traditional – always a favorite in our house
Mix all snacks together in a large bowl.
To serve…cut about 3 inches off a lunch bag, fold over top and fill with Touchdown Snack Mix
The Cantina Thin Tortilla Chips were served in a football dish, with shredded cheese on the side for the Cowboy Chili.
Now let’s talk about this Cowboy Chili that Doug made. Although it’s delicious, it does have a little kick, so if you are like me… and a wimp when it comes to spicy food…you can certainly leave out the jalapeno pepper. The recipe was inspired by the Spicy Bacon Cowboy Chili from White on Rice Couple.
And although it’s Chili, it’s thick enough to use chips for dipping.
Before we get to the Cowboy Chili recipe, let’s chat about the Table…
For the Football Tablecloth, we started with a paper tablecloth we found in the party supplies area at Walmart, it was only $2. We had planned to mark the lines of the field with white Duck Tape, but when we found this tablecloth already done we were excited…it saved us time and money. We did want to add a little something though, so we found the numbers near the crayons, and simply applied them to the tablecloth with adhesive tape runner.
I think the Football Tablescape is not only fun for the Super Bowl, but Tailgating Parties or even a Football Themed Children’s Party.

Cowboy Chili Recipe
- Total Time: 1 hour 10 minutes
Description
Thick chili with a little kick. Recipe from PocketChangeGourmet.com
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds Ground Beef
- 1 can Rotel tomatoes with lime and cilantro
- 6 strips bacon, diced
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 Jalapeno Pepper, seeded and diced finely
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
- 1 teaspoon Cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon Chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground Cumin
- 1 tablespoon Paprika
- 1 tablespoon Brown Sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cracked black pepper
- 2 tablespoons Cornstarch
- 12 ounces Red Wine or Beer
Instructions
- In a large skillet on the stovetop, add the ground beef and bacon and cook until almost done
- Add onion, garlic and jalapeno pepper, cook for 2-3 minutes or until onions are soft
- Add Rotel tomatoes, barbecue sauce, spices, brown sugar, pepper and wine, stir to combine
- Simmer for 15-20 minutes
- Combine corn starch with 1 tablespoon water and stir until dissolved, add to chili to thicken
- Continue cooking for 30 minutes – 1 hour
- Serve warm with tortilla chips and toppings if desired
Notes
You can easily double this recipe to serve a crowd. To add more spice to the chili, use Habanero peppers or for less spice, leave out the Jalapeno pepper.
