The days of summer are upon us and the evening air is filled with the aroma of neighbors grilling and the chatter of nature. What a serene feeling this can be and when all is well it feels that no harm can come. We all aspire to this feeling when we break out the grill and invite friends over to visit and partake of our culinary exploits. Yet there are many times when all the social time is eaten up by the perceived need to tend your grill. I thought I’d share with you a few tips that might help ease the need. 
Whether it’s just a couple of neighbors or a gaggle of friends the most important step is planning. I know this seems like a no-brainer but many of gatherings are derailed from the lack of this first step. If you don’t know what your grilling how can you expect to plan all the subsequent steps.
Know your guests
- There is the time and place for everything and maybe you have a group of buddies that share your passion for grilling, so if that is the case they won’t mind if you go a little overboard with the grill. You may even want to suggest they bring their best grilling recipe with them so everyone can share.
Keep it Simple
- Sometimes grilling with friends is a spur of the moment thing so keep your menu simple. The odds are that they are there to visit with you more than wanting to be amazed by your skills with the grill. Perfect your technique, it might sound odd but a masterfully grilled hamburger or hot dog can be just as tasty as a $15 steak. There are celebrity chefs that make an entire career from hamburgers.
Low and Slow
- There are the purest who must wow the guests, if this is you then time management is crucial to you. So plan your grilling time so that as your guests arrive you are putting the final touches on your creation. An added benefit are the smiles on your friends faces when they smell the aroma.
