Organize for the New Year

Often at the beginning of a new year, we are all in need of getting organized. I’m not sure if it’s because we have had a full year of letting things get cluttered, or it’s just a great time to focus on catching up.

And with being organized, comes saving money. If we can make a menu plan, either weekly or monthly, it certainly keeps us on top of things and saves money.

Doug and I are super busy, and although that is an awesome thing, we tend to let things get out of hand. Toward the end of the year, our pantry was REALLY out of control. So during the holidays we took everything out, grouped all the like items together and put everything back in. Then we made a stock up list and headed to Walmart to tackle a major shopping trip.

Knowing what you have on hand is half the battle when it comes to menu planning. While we always plan our Monthly Menu, we don’t always do a good job of shopping our pantry first. Here are some ideas to get you started organizing your pantry…

  4. Good grief, I LOVE that chalk board idea. I have several old slate boards and one of them is going to be on my kitchen wall SOON! We have others hanging around that we’ve used for the kids to play with, play hangman, draw pictures, etc. And I used to have one as a backdoor message board in the entry. But a menu board? Great idea!
