Whether it’s just the two of us during the week, or with the boys on the weekends, we love getting up early and visiting with each other over the breakfast table. One of our favorite easy breakfasts is a Healthy Breakfast Bar featuring all our favorite toppings.

It’s so simple to set the table, grab a few bowls and go about filling them up with what ever you like. Some suggestions that come to mind would be some fresh fruit, blueberries and raspberries always are on our table. You’ll want to include some nuts like almonds and sunflower seeds so you not only get the health benefits of yogurt but also the antioxidants in nuts.

We will also include our homemade granola or Kellogg’s All-Bran Cereal for a little extra fiber to keep us full till lunch time.

And don’t forget the yogurt, there are many choices, you can choose to go with a plain yogurt recipe and sweeten it yourself with a little Truvia or choose and a flavored yogurt to serve. You can also choose to have either a no-fat, low-fat or full-fat yogurt. It really depends on your dietary needs, but just a little information here. Eating a yogurt that has some fat in it helps to keep you feeling fuller longer to cut down on the mid-morning cravings that always seem to creep up one you. Dannon makes a vanilla-flavored low-fat yogurt that we buy at Walmart.

Did you know yogurt is also a great ingredient for cooking, while at Walmart headquarters this summer, we learned about many breakfast options using Dannon yogurt and Kellogg’s cereal. There were a lot of great ideas like scrambling eggs with yogurt to make them extra fluffy and making a fun dip the kids love with yogurt and Kellogg’s Rice Krispies.
