This twist on pizza makes a fun Halloween Dinner Recipe for your family, friends, to serve at a Halloween Party or take to the office. It has all your favorite pizza topping inside the dough, wrapped up to make a Mummy Calzone!

Over the years I have served my family many Halloween Dinners – from our fun Spider Taco Ring, to Spooky Witch Fingers, to Bones and Cheese Dip, Drinks and of course fun Halloween Dessert. Even if we don’t have a Halloween Party, and it’s only our family, it’s always a fun time.

Halloween Dinner Recipe

The Mummy Calzone begins with our Bread Machine Pizza Dough Recipe. It’s quick and easy. (I really need to use my bread machine more.) And then filled with our favorite pizza toppings. You can certainly add whatever pizza toppings your family likes. Let me show you how we made “George” the Mummy Calzone…

After the dough is done in the bread machine, roll it out on a floured surface, into a rectangle shape.

Add your pizza sauce down the middle and then your toppings. We added pepperoni, mushrooms, black olives, mozzarella cheese, and some fresh basil

Then using a small spatula as your guide, cut the dough along the edge with a sharp knife.

Time to wrap your Mummy, one edge and then the other.

After cutting and wrapping, beat an egg in a small bowl and brush on top of the mummy.

George is all wrapped and ready to hop on the baking sheet and head to the oven. To make this a little easier, we used large spatulas and slipped them under the Mummy and transferred him to the baking sheet lined with parchment paper, then sprinkled the calzone with corn meal. You could also place the dough on the baking sheet, add your toppings, cut and wrap him. Place him in a pre-heated 350 F degree oven and bake for 20 to 30 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and let set a few minutes before cutting.

While the calzone is resting, you can prepare his eyes. Slice off both round ends of two black olives, stuff with shredded mozzarella into them and placed them on the mummy body for the eyes.

The Mummy Calzone turned out pretty large, so depending on your family size, you can cut the dough in half and only make 1, or make 2 smaller calzones.

  1. Those mummies are absolutely adorable! I think I can make these! I also use my bread machine for pizza dough and bread, of course, and my sauce is almost the same as yours!

    • Thanks so much! Let us know if you have a chance to give the Mummy a try 🙂

  2. Looks amazing! How would we do the dough without a bread machine?

    • You can use pizza dough as a substituent. If not, take the easiest bread recipe you can find and go with it.

    • Thanks for your question, Barbara.
Yes of course you can! You’d also gain time by having your dough already made.
