Coffee Barbecue Sauce

What? Coffee in your Barbecue Sauce? You heard that right. With Summer Grilling here, and Fourth of July right around the corner, we knew you would love this recipe for Coffee Barbecue Sauce. You can use it as a marinade or add it to any of your grilled meats; chicken, beef, pork and more.

Some of the ingredients may sound a bit odd, but trust me, when it’s all together, the flavors blend really well. The Coffee Barbecue Sauce is cooked on the stovetop and then pureed in the blender, but you can easily make it up ahead of time and store it in the fridge for up to two weeks.

Coffee Barbecue Sauce

A delicious barbecue sauce with coffee, you will be surprised how good it is. Recipe from PocketChangeGourmet.com

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup International Delight Iced Coffee
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 – 1/2 cup cider vinegar, depending on taste
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 1 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 2 Tablespoons Dijon Mustard {the recipe called for dry mustard, but we used Dijon}
  • 2 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons ground cumin
  • 2 Tablespoons chili powder

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan
  2. Bring to a simmer, and cook for 20 minutes
  3. Remove from heat, cool completely
  4. Pour into blender and puree until smooth
  5. Store in a glass jar in the fridge for up to 2 weeks

Notes

Doug says...Use this barbecue sauce for a marinade or add it to grilled chicken, beef or pork.
